This course focuses on enriching students' vocabulary with antonyms, synonyms, and phraseological units, exploring the role of lexical groups in speech (words with direct and figurative meanings, synonyms, antonyms, polysemous words, phraseological units, obsolete and new words). It involves studying the origin of specific words (loanwords, word formation). The course also aims to develop students' ability to use words from different lexical groups in their own speech, enhancing coherent speech and fostering a love and interest in the Ukrainian language.
During the study of the section "Word," you will learn to distinguish between words, select synonyms, antonyms, synonyms, and phraseological units for given words; differentiate between unambiguous and polysemous words; create word combinations with direct and figurative meanings; reveal the meanings of the most commonly used polysemous words, and incorporate them into phrases and sentences; explain the meanings of the most frequently used phraseological units; find synonyms, antonyms, polysemous words, and phraseological units in a text and explain their roles; recognize obsolete and new words in texts; research the origins of words; and use words in both direct and figurative meanings, synonyms, antonyms, polysemous words, and phraseological units to achieve communication goals. The course also emphasizes developing and enriching your own speech.
